Free Spanish Worksheets for Kindergarten and Beginners
These six free Spanish worksheets are one page each, made for kindergarten and beginners: colors, numbers, days of the week, months, greetings and family. On every sheet your child traces six or seven Spanish words, draws lines to match them, and then says them out loud with you. Each one takes about ten minutes.
Kindergarten Spanish worksheets: the six sheets
One free PDF, six US Letter pages, one unit per page. Every sheet has the same three parts, so your child knows what to do by the second one: trace (Repasa las palabras.), match (Une con una línea), and a “say it together” line at the bottom.

How to use a worksheet without killing the joy
No Spanish of your own is required: the English is on every sheet and the unit pages have the pronunciation. The one rule: the worksheet comes after the words have been heard. Read a Manuel y Lola story, play the game on the unit page, and a few days later hand over the sheet. Your child will recognize the words the way they recognize Max the dog: as old friends.
We wrote up our five steps in Free Homeschool Spanish Worksheets to Pair With Stories. The short version: say every word out loud as it’s traced, keep it to one sheet, and stop while it’s still fun.
Worksheets reinforce; stories teach. That order leans on Stephen Krashen’s input hypothesis, a widely cited (and still debated) account of how people acquire a language: by understanding it first. And ACTFL, the US language-teaching association, recommends using the new language at least 90% of class time. At home, the “say it together” line is where you do that: read the words in Spanish, not English.
For kindergarten
Tracing and matching only. Say each word as your child traces it, and let them match by pointing if the pencil gets tiring. Start with colors and numbers, the easiest to connect to real things.
Beginner Spanish worksheets for 1st grade and up
Same sheets, one step further: after matching, your child writes one word from memory on the back and uses it in a sentence out loud, like Mi color favorito es el verde. Days and months are a good fit for this age.

What Spanish should a kindergartner learn?
Words they can see and use every day: greetings like hola and chau, colors, numbers to ten, and family words like mamá and abuela. Then the small words that fill every story, like y, es and tengo. A realistic goal for a five-year-old is recognizing and saying these words in familiar moments, not writing sentences.
Are worksheets good for teaching Spanish to young kids?
As review, yes; as the lesson, no. Young children learn Spanish by hearing it in stories, games and daily routines. A worksheet works best a few days later, as a quiet way to see and trace words your child already understands out loud.
How long should a Spanish worksheet take?
About ten minutes for these sheets, and less is fine. Stop while your child is still enjoying it, even if the page isn't finished. One sheet a week alongside a story is plenty for a kindergartner.
Do you have Spanish alphabet or body parts worksheets?
Not yet. Our Spanish alphabet page has a free printable alphabet chart with an example word for each letter, and the body parts page has a free labeled chart. Both work as a first step before a worksheet.
Start with a story
Worksheets work best after a story. Our free starter story, Manuel tiene un perro, prints in minutes and comes with a parent guide in English.
