- 1
Say the word before the crayon comes out. Point to the big word at the top and say it: rojo. Then point to each picture and name it with its color: la manzana, roja; la fresa, roja. That is the whole lesson.
- 2
Let your child choose the crayon. Ask ¿Qué color? and wait. A pointed finger or a held-up crayon is a fine answer; you say the word back.
- 3
Talk while they color. Short phrases only, in Spanish: Muy bien. ¿Y la fresa? If your child answers in English, repeat the Spanish word once and keep coloring. No correcting.
- 4
One sheet a day, then pin it up. Hang each finished sheet where you eat or get dressed. After a couple of weeks the wall is a homemade color chart you can point at: ¿Dónde está el azul?
- 5
Two sheets need a trick. On blanco, white crayon barely shows on white paper, so color the sky around the clouds and the cat stays white. On negro, a gray or blue crayon for the background keeps the black umbrella easy to see.
Every word on these sheets is on the Spanish colors chart, with the pronunciation and the Veo, veo game. Print the chart for the wall and the sheets for the table.
