Spanish color by number
By Profe · Updated
6 free Spanish color by number sheets: corazón, estrella, manzana, gato, árbol and sol. The key under each grid gives every number a color word in Spanish, so your child reads rojo or azul to choose the crayon. Numbers run from 1 to 10. Each card has the answer picture behind a Show answer link. Read the key aloud together the first time; after that most children run the sheet on their own.

- 1
Read the key aloud first. Before anyone colors, go down the key together: uno, rojo; dos, azul. Your child points at the empty swatch, you say the color, they color the swatch. Now the key is ready to use.
- 2
Keep the colors chart next to the sheet. A child who cannot read yet can match rojo on the key to rojo on the colors chart, where the swatch shows the color.
- 3
Ask, don't tell. When your child stops at a square, ask ¿Qué número es? and then ¿Y qué color es el cinco? Let them find it on the key.
- 4
Use it as an early-finisher sheet. In class, keep a stack in a folder. The sheets need no explanation once the key has been read aloud one time.
- 5
Keep the answer for the end. Show answer under each sheet above opens the colored picture. It is not on the printed sheet, so open it only when the coloring is done.
The Spanish practiced here is the color words, so the colors chart is the one to print alongside. For counting the squares out loud in Spanish, the numbers chart has the counting words with pronunciation.
